My brief account with stroke About me
I am a 68 year old woman currently residing in the UK. I had always been an active person, happy and I enjoyed life. However, this suddenly changed in March 2018 when I became unwell while on a holiday in Africa. I had an ischemic stroke with right hand hemiparesis, which weakened the right side of my entire body, making it hard for me to execute my everyday activities. including eating or dressing. My balance too, to this day, has not improved.
The National Health Service (NHS) in England states that an ischaemic stroke is the most common type of stroke that occurs when a blood clot blocks the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain.
Stroke is a terrible disease and having survived it, I would not wish it on my worst enemy. I wish it hadn't happened to me, but it did and I've battled with several emotions like anger and anxiety.
I don't want to dwell much on it. I just want to do my best and face the world, whether I want to or not. I want to live my life as easy and normal as possible whenever I can.
